1. Introduction to On-site Application Conditions

Tail slag flushing three-eccentric butterfly valve in the tail slag process pipeline area of the ironmaking slag treatment system; the medium is slag powder.

2. Problems and Challenges Faced

The flushing valve in the tail slag process pipeline area of the ironmaking slag treatment system has been using a three-eccentric, multi-layer hard-sealed butterfly valve from a domestic brand. After about 10 days of online use, the valve showed internal leakage; this caused a negative impact on the operating environment for on-site personnel and affected normal production.

3. EICMATION's Solution

Preliminary analysis indicates that the reason for internal leakage after about 10 days is likely due to severe damage or wear caused by slag powder scouring the multi-layer graphite sealing surface, resulting in damage to the graphite layer of the three-eccentric, multi-layer sealing ring of this domestic brand, leading to valve seal failure. After analyzing the on-site process parameters, EICMATION technicians ultimately adopted a three-eccentric, all-metal hard-sealed butterfly valve (FVA22D3625). The valve seat and butterfly plate seals of this structure both use STL hardening treatment to increase the hardness and wear resistance of the sealing surface. It has been in use at the customer's site for over three months, and the overall valve operation is quite good.
