Optimization of inlet and cleaning valve selection for pharmaceutical and sanitary storage tanks

For the uneven force on the single-sided bracket, please refer to the figure above. The bracket can be changed to a cast integral bracket (≤DN150) or a sheet metal double-sided bracket (full series).
Detailed description

I. Operating Condition Introduction:
As shown in the figure, this location is the inlet for the tank top washing water. The vertical pipe is installed, and the valve's upper end generally has a long straight pipe section extending to the roof before turning. Closing the valve at this installation location can easily cause water hammer impact.

II. Problems Encountered and Cause Analysis:
Problem: Leakage occurs around the circumference of the sanitary butterfly valve body or at the upper and lower valve stems when closing instantly.
Cause:
1. Vertical pipe installation; water hammer is generated when closing instantly. The sanitary butterfly valve has a relatively low pressure resistance, and overpressure occurs when closing instantly;
2. The body fastening of the sanitary butterfly valve is relatively weak, and coupled with the fact that the bracket of the conventional pneumatic sanitary butterfly valve is a single-sided bracket, the valve stem seal is subjected to uneven force during the opening and closing process due to the weight of the cylinder when installed in a vertical pipe.
III. Optimized Usage Plan:

1. The sanitary butterfly valve has limited pressure resistance. If conditions permit, it is recommended to change the valve at this location to a sanitary ball valve;
2. If the valve type cannot be adjusted, appropriately increase the interference fit of the sanitary butterfly valve seat within the pressure resistance range to enhance the valve body's pressure resistance to a certain extent;
3. Control the valve closing speed, close the valve as slowly as possible to reduce the water hammer force;
For the problem of uneven force on the single-sided bracket, refer to the figure above. The bracket can be changed to a cast body fixed bracket (≤DN150) or a sheet metal double-sided bracket (full series).
