Selection Scheme for Large-Diameter Three-Way Diverting Butterfly Valves

Many gas or liquid transport systems are used in metallurgy, chemical engineering, environmental protection, and other fields. Three-way valves are often used for multi-channel pipeline media switching to ensure that the media can be transported through a single predetermined pipeline and avoid abnormal flow diversion or confluence.

1. Introduction to On-site Application Conditions

Many gas or liquid transmission systems are used in the metallurgical, chemical, and environmental protection industries. Three-way valves are often used for multi-channel pipeline media switching to ensure that the media is transmitted through a single predetermined pipeline, avoiding abnormal flow diversion or confluence. Commonly used three-way valves are mainly three-way ball valves. Due to the limitations of the ball valve structure, the general diameter is smaller. If a large-diameter three-way ball valve is used for switching, it will be too expensive and too heavy to use. Therefore, a valve suitable for large-diameter pipeline three-way switching is needed.

2. Challenges and Problems Faced

1. Large diameter, linkage operation.

2. High temperatures may exist in some operating conditions.

3. Three-way same-diameter switching or different-diameter switching, special installation dimensions, or complex pipeline joints.

4. Some operating conditions have high requirements for the sealing of the switched channel.

EICMATION's Recommended Solution

1. To meet the requirements of large diameter, cost-effective butterfly valves are used for cut-off, two or more butterfly valves, equipped with connecting rod synchronous operation;

2. To meet the requirements of high-temperature use, the valve can choose hard seal or low-load butterfly valve, and the bracket is raised for heat dissipation;

3. For different interfaces or complex pipeline multi-channel switching situations, the valve-matched pipe fittings can be adjusted according to different needs, and the complete machine assembly and debugging work will be completed before leaving the factory together with the valve;

4. For different sealing requirements, valves can choose sealed structures with center line, double eccentric, and triple eccentric butterfly valves, or low-load types suitable for low-pressure ventilation pipelines.

5. The structure of our large-diameter three-way switching butterfly valve is shown in the figure below, including two outlet butterfly valves, three-way pipe fittings, and connecting rod components. Two outlet butterfly valves can choose all-welded ventilation butterfly valves or sealed butterfly valves (center line, double eccentric or triple eccentric butterfly valves), three-way pipe fittings are all-welded structures, and two butterfly valves are connected by connecting rods, driven by one actuator. The two outlet butterfly valves are set with one active valve and one passive valve. The active valve is driven by an actuator, and the passive valve is driven by the active valve through the connecting rod components. Both valves are driven by one actuator to ensure synchronous switching.
