Bottom sanitary ball valve of the reactor
1. Introduction to On-site Application Conditions
In industry, the production of materials mostly uses reactors for reactions such as mixing, fermentation, polymerization, or decomposition. The conveying of materials at the bottom of the reactor uses bottom valves. This valve is the first switch valve for material discharge, and commonly used types include upward-opening discharge valves, downward-opening discharge valves, bottom ball valves, knife gate valves, and disc valves. For reactors used in food and pharmaceutical hygiene, these bottom valves generally require a high surface finish on the flow passage and require that the valve cavity minimizes material retention. Bottom ball valves are particularly suitable for this purpose.
2. Challenges and Problems Faced
1. Connection with the reactor: The bottom valve installation should be as close to the bottom of the reactor as possible without affecting the on/off operation;
2. The flow passage needs polishing;
3. The valve cavity should minimize retention; if necessary, the valve should also consider using an insulation jacket;
4. The installation location of the drive device should not interfere with the reactor and should be easy to operate;
EICMATION's Recommended Solution
1. The valve body and the bottom connection end use a non-standard concave flange to directly adhere to and weld to the bottom of the reactor, maximizing the sealing of the valve seat against the bottom of the tank and reducing material retention caused by connection issues;
2. The flow passage and ball of the sanitary ball valve are polished to improve surface finish and reduce material retention;
3. The valve seat can be a fully enclosed structure to further reduce material retention in the valve cavity;
4. The sanitary bottom ball valve has a three-section structure. The middle mounting platform can be vertical or inclined (as shown below). Note that the inclined valve seat is only half-enclosed. Both the vertical type with a bracket and the inclined type at an angle can keep the drive away from the reactor, making it easier to operate.
