Application of EICMATION powder valves in the grain and oil industry

I. Introduction to On-site Application Conditions
1. Product Specifications; Pneumatic double gate ceramic valve, Material: WCB+Ceramic, Seal: Hard seal, Pressure Standard: PN10, Diameter: DN200.
2. On-site Conditions; The valve is vertically installed at the discharge port of the large silo. The large silo transfers powder materials to the small silo. The medium is neutral, the medium is white clay (powdery), and the medium size is powdery (similar to flour). The medium hardness is not high, and it is switched on and off about 10 times a day.
3. On-site Working Pressure and Temperature; 6 kg air pressure, normal temperature.
4. On-site Valve Usage; The valve switches normally. After about 12 months of use, leakage occurred at the valve stem.
5. Analysis of Valve Leakage Causes:
5.1. After long-term use, the packing gland loosens, and the packing gland does not tighten the packing.
5.2. Because the valve is a straight-stroke movement, the medium will damage the packing with the up and down movement of the valve stem each time the valve is switched.
II. Problems and Challenges Faced
1. The valve needs to be wear-resistant and erosion-resistant, and the sealing requirements are relatively high.

III. EICMATION's Recommended Solution (as shown in the figure)

1. Add a dust cover to the valve. If the medium leaks from the valve stem, it will not leak to the site. The medium remains in the dust cover, which will not affect the site environment.
2. Add a packing spring to the valve. Because the packing gland is easy to loosen after frequent valve switching, causing the packing gland to not tighten the packing, the medium leaks from the valve stem each time the valve is switched. Adding a packing spring can keep the packing gland pressing the packing, avoiding leakage due to loosening of the packing gland.
3. Add an O-ring inside the packing gland. Adding another seal provides double-layer seal protection for the packing. When the packing is damaged, the two O-rings can still provide sealing, ensuring that the valve does not leak.
