Application of EICMATION double eccentric butterfly valve in gas service with powder materials
The customer's medium is nitrogen gas, but the flow rate is high during transportation, and the medium contains a small amount of carbon powder. The valve operates at a high frequency (once every 40 seconds to 1 minute), the medium temperature is 60℃, and the operating pressure is 7 bar.
Customer Pain Points:
The customer currently uses a Bray soft-sealed double eccentric butterfly valve with a PEEK seat. The site reported that the Bray valve leaks internally after a period of use. After reviewing the Bray product samples and discussions, it is believed that the valve disc of the old valve is more likely to be worn, and the PEEK seat has extremely low elasticity. If powder is entrained during closing, the sealing surface has a high risk of damage.
EICMATION Solution:
After communicating with the on-site technicians, EICMATION adopted the newly launched valve plate hardening process to perform overall cladding and hardening on the sealing surface of the double eccentric butterfly valve. The valve seat uses TFM1600 material with better elasticity, and the valve's production and processing technology has been upgraded to make the valve usable in high-frequency operation conditions. The specific upgrade content is as follows:
1. Each component uses a tolerance band far higher than the relevant standards for tolerance control, reducing the dead zone and friction caused by tolerances, improving the stability of the valve under high-frequency operation, and improving the service life of the valve.
2. The requirements for the surface finish during valve shaft processing have been improved to achieve an almost mirror-like finish, resulting in less wear on the packing, ensuring a longer service life of the packing and valve stem.
3. The valve shaft material is changed to the stronger S17400 material, so that it can withstand the impact force caused by rapid movement without deformation. Ensure that the valve can accurately open and close even with high-frequency operation.
4. The valve plate sealing surface is strictly polished to reduce friction between the valve and the valve seat during opening and closing, effectively extending the life of the valve seat and reducing the opening and closing torque.
5. Strictly control the processing tolerance of the exposed size of the valve shaft head, effectively reducing the return difference after the valve actuator is installed, and also effectively reducing the impact of the high-frequency movement of the cylinder on the valve stem.
6. During the production of the valve seat and packing, the surface finish is also strictly controlled to avoid surface roughness caused by processing knife marks, affecting the service life of the valve seat and packing.
The first delivery was in November 2021, and the customer subsequently placed multiple orders for this type of valve in 2022.
